Virgin Media's pledge to fight piracy with connection to its music service. Virgin has said that they will suspend the customer's internet access if they fail to heed warning letters against piracy.

One of the most vocal is Universal Music Group, which was also the first one to sign up for Virgin's new service.

That's great, I think Virgin has claimed that their fibre optic network is accessible to half of UK households.

Hmmmn... can Virgin suspend internet access for its subscribers? I thought the Digital Britain mandate was just to send educational letters, no punitive actions were to be made against those who erred.

That's why Geoff Taylor, chief executive of trade organisation the BPI, says that graduated response should be possible. Taylor also said that the government's proposed measures were not enough!

The sad thing is, other recording companies seem to be lagging behind the negotiations. Only EMI is said to confirm negotiations with Virgin but Virgin is reportedly in talks with all providers and companies!

I still think that Virgin's music service is too expensive! Reports are saying that it could be around 15-16 quids!

Well, there are two plans one with unlimited downloads and then one with a set number of downloads monthly. You can also stream music if you like.

I've read a statement from the Internet Service Providers' Association where they say that the Virgin deal should hopefully lead the way so that others might follow.

There are criticisms that selling music over the air might not be viable. Besides, most experts think that the Virgin revenue scheme is unworkable from a revenue standpoint.
