Default Australia to eliminate digital blackspots with new satellite

NewSat will be launching Australia's first local satellite. NewSat said that it aims to help with the Australian government's push to give remote areas access to digital television.

That is great news! I have heard that the government gave A$160 million cash to help with this project. It is good that more countries are following our example and eliminating digital black spots in their own areas.

NewSat's Jabiru project has been under works since 2007. They really have been working hard to cash in on their government's push for more digital connectivity.

Australia has various digital TV blackspots. Now thanks to Newsat, 247,000 homes will gain access to digital TV.

From what I've heard, it will have enough capacity to provide live broadcasting.

Yes! The new satellite will be able to do that, plus it is set to provide Ka band coverage across the country.

The additional satellites is only one of the avenues being looked into by the government. They also plan to use the A$160 million cash to upgrade existing infrastructure as well as installing repeaters to extend signal.

What is more, the government is subsidizing $300 for each new satellite dish. This is half of what it would normally cost.

I think it is much cheaper to launch a satellite than the other methods being proposed over there.

Whatever happened too all the satellite companies they have there? I think three other satellite providers are in operation in Australia: AusSatCom, IPStar, and ITC Global Orion.
