It seems that Freeview is going all out in its HD campaign. It has recently said that they will have a £6 million marketing campaign to help launch its HD service.

Yup, I was told that the ads and all that stuff will be seen this weekend. Eight new Freeview HD adverts were set to premiere on April 3. Freeview will use the slogan HD goes Freeview.

WHOA!!! I think this is a great development. Crowd out the HD market so that prices fall. And with the advent of 3D, HD will soon go down down and maybe bundled together with the standard channels! FREE :)

The thing is, Freeview is going to show these on ITV, C4 and other digital channels. And it's not only TV spots, they also prepared print advertisements and are going online for the effort too. The campaign is expected to launch until June as well.

I think that Freeview is really banking on its HD programming. And this just proves it. Good thing for those who are not subscribed to Sky or Virgin yet, they'd have more HD choices to coose from. I think that Freeview could easily get people from Sky and Virgin to switch to them.

I agree with that, especially since as many as 17% of Sky HD's subscribers are saying that they will switch to Freeview HD.

They should be banking on their HD programming if they are willing to spend 6 million quids on it.

Freeview carries the allure of FREE, not being tied down to monthly fees and such... but I wonder if they would be able to provide the level of programming that Virgin or BT has, let alone Sky.
