Another Sky Advertisement banned by the ASA

It seems that Sky is pushing the limits with its advertising. Another Sky ad has been banned by the ASA for being misleading. This time, the ad is for Sky+!

Right. But I really do not see what all the fuss was about? I think some people did find it difficult to go digital.

But Sky actually suggested that the switchover would be a lot more complex for people who did not subscribe with them. The ASA said that the ad should not be used again, because it led people to think that to go digital means to go with Sky+

I don't think Sky will be coming out with an advertisement that would say that it is easy to switch, and that you should all get FreeView? ASA is being too much here.

Well, you have to understand that in order to push your products, you do not have to deceive people!

The ASA, Ofcom, a lot of other regulators have been very hard on Sky these past fewmonths, while being very lenient on their competitors. It's hard to think that they are not being ganged up on!

I would tend to agree with Belligerent on this one. Sky has been getting been getting a lot of bad judgments of late.

I think I'd like to join into this discussion. One thing that I find truly unfair is Sky being told that they should price their sports and movies lower. I agree that to do so would kill quality programming and is tantamount to subsidizing Virgin and other broadcasters' operations.

Yeah that... and the fact that the ASA would vote differently if it were not Sky involved!
